The map shows the Grand Prix circuit with 17 corners; another source counts 13. Whether the trucks race on the Grand Prix circuit (4.574 km) or the National circuit (3.736 km) is still open: the 2026 truck lap record is listed for the National circuit, while the organiser’s description names the Grand Prix circuit. Some corners have no name on the map, and “Mobil 1 Kurve” is an older sponsor name.
Since 2026 the new German Truck Grand Prix Championship (TGP) has visited three venues: the Hockenheimring, the Nürburgring and the Lausitzring. The “Young TGP” is the opening round, in 2027 from 14 to 16 May. The European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) does not race at Hockenheim.
At the 2026 opener (16/17 May) Sascha Lenz (MAN) dominated with four wins; Lenz and John Newell (MAN) set the pace in the races. There was also a support programme with touring car series and a festival on Saturday evening. The truck lap record of 1:51.620 (Lenz, MAN TGS) stands for the 3.736 km National circuit.
The Hockenheimring opened on 29 May 1932 as the “Hockenheimer-Dreieck” (Hockenheim triangle). The Motodrom was built in 1965/66 to plans by John Hugenholtz, who also designed Suzuka. When Hermann Tilke rebuilt the circuit in 2002, the long forest section was dropped and the track shrank from 6.8 to 4.574 km. From 1970 to 2019 it hosted 37 Formula 1 German Grands Prix.
